We are hiring an Accessibility Specialist.
The role is hybrid, with one of our offices in Stockholm, Malmö or Gothenburg as your main location.
THE ROLE OF ACCESSIBILITY SPECIALIST
We are looking for an Accessibility Specialist to ensure that digital platforms and products are accessible to all users, regardless of disability or technical ability. In this role, you will develop and implement strategies and processes to ensure that digital products comply with accessibility standards and guidelines.
As an Accessibility Specialist, your main responsibility is to drive, coordinate, and further develop accessibility work. You will assess the current state through audits and analyses in order to propose strategies and initiatives in both the short and long term. You will provide advice and support to clients and work to increase competence and engagement around accessibility.
Your task is to ensure that customer solutions can be used by everyone, meaning that interfaces, content, pedagogy, and code are designed in an inclusive way for all users.
Examples of responsibilities include:
Reviewing and auditing accessibility of websites, applications, or documents
Planning and conducting usability testing
Participating in requirements work and analysing websites, applications, and documents from an accessibility perspective
Collaborating with developers, communicators, and designers to create accessible websites and services
Conducting workshops and training sessions within accessibility
Creating guidelines, policies and instruction materials
Designing and driving plans and strategies for digital inclusion
Essential skills:
Strong knowledge of standards, laws, and regulations in the field, such as EN 301 549, WCAG 2.1 (and 2.2), European Accessibility Act and Web Accessibility Directive (DOS Act).
Technical understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WAI-ARIA, and semantic markup
Solid knowledge of universal design, different types of functional variations, and their needs
Experience with tools for manual and automated accessibility testing
Experience in developing, driving, and designing digital services
Experience working in projects using agile development methods
Fluency in both Swedish and English, spoken and written
Desired skills:
Relevant academic education in digital design (UX design, frontend development, visual design) or equivalent experience/qualifications
At least 4–5 years of experience in accessibility, usability, or UX design – both strategic and operational
Certifications such as WAS, CPACC, or ADS
Experience using accessibility tools such as screen readers
Experience conducting user testing
Experience with tools such as Figma and Miro
Experience facilitating workshops and delivering training sessions or lectures
Experience working with design systems
Knowledge of design thinking
Experience working in the public sector
